The short version. Your photos and pets live on your computer by default. We process only what is needed to create your companion. We never sell your data, we never train shared AI models on your content, and you can have everything deleted by asking us.
1. Who we are
Pawdwell is operated by [Legal entity name] ("we", "us"), which provides the Pawdwell desktop application and the website getpawdwell.com. We are responsible for the personal information described in this policy. Questions about this policy or your data: support@getpawdwell.com.
2. What we collect
- Account data: your email address and display name when you sign in (via Supabase authentication). We do not store passwords.
- Content you provide: photos you upload for pet creation, and messages you send in chat.
- Usage data: anonymous, aggregated statistics — feature usage counts and crash reports. No cross-site tracking, no advertising cookies.
- Payment data: handled entirely by our merchant of record (Creem). We never see or store card details; we receive only your email, the product purchased, and an order identifier.
3. How we use it
- To create your companion from the photo you provide. For signed-in users, image processing runs on our servers and the result is downloaded to your device.
- To operate AI chat when you use it — your messages are sent to an AI provider to generate a reply.
- To provide your account, restore purchases, and prevent abuse.
- To fix crashes and improve the product, using aggregated statistics only.
4. What stays on your device
Finished pets, their animations, and local settings are stored on your computer. Signing in is not required to use companions you have already downloaded.
5. AI training
We do not use your photos, your generated companions, or your chat conversations to train generalised or cross-user AI models, and we do not permit our AI providers to do so on our behalf. Your content is processed solely to produce the result you asked for.
6. Third-party processors
We share data only with the processors needed to run the service:

Each processor is bound by its own privacy policy and processes data only on our instructions.
7. Retention and deletion
We keep your account information, uploaded photos, generated companions and their metadata, and chat content until you delete the relevant item, ask us to delete it, or close your account.
To close your account or request deletion:
- Email support@getpawdwell.com from the address associated with your account and say what you want removed (everything, or specific items).
- We may ask you to confirm your identity first, so nobody else can delete your data.
- We complete the deletion within 30 days (or sooner where the law requires) and confirm by email.
- Companions already downloaded to your own computer are yours and are removed only when you delete them locally — we have no access to them.
Limited retention may be necessary for legal obligations (for example tax records for purchases), fraud prevention, dispute resolution, or backup recovery. Such data is kept only as long as required and is not used for anything else. Aggregated analytics are kept no longer than 12 months.
8. Your rights (GDPR / CCPA)
Wherever you live, you can:
- Access your data — request a copy at any time.
- Delete your data or close your account — see section 7.
- Correct inaccurate information.
- Object to or restrict processing — contact us and we will stop the processing in question.
- Withdraw consent at any time where we rely on consent.
- Complain to your local supervisory authority — in the EEA, your national data protection authority; in the UK, the Information Commissioner's Office.
We respond to requests within 30 days. We do not sell or share personal information as defined by the CCPA/CPRA, and we do not discriminate against you for exercising your rights.
9. Children
Pawdwell is not directed at anyone under 18, and a parent or guardian cannot authorise a minor to use it. We do not knowingly collect data from minors; if you believe a minor has provided data, contact us and we will delete it.
10. Security
Data in transit is protected with TLS; account credentials use standard token authentication. No system is perfectly secure, but we minimise what we hold — the less we store, the less can leak.
11. Changes
If we make material changes we will notify you in-app before they take effect. The "Last updated" date above always reflects the current version.
